Say Anything - Do Better
The string plucky intro to Say Anything’s “Do Better” popped in my head for no particular reason so now I’m listening to it on repeat. It’s got sparse string/synth (later some cool electric guitar) instrumentation and a slower but catchy beat. I suppose it fits into the alternative category. I really like this song and it’s definitely worth a first listen. You can download it for FREE on this pretty awesome blog. There’s another FREE song in that post called “Puzzles” by The Mary Onettes that’s also extremely good. It’s much more indie with deep echoey vocals/drumbeats and catchy string pizzicato. If you like bands like Animal Collective, this song might be for you.
