Rain ()- Love Song

I heard this song kind of in passing.  It’s one of those things I heard somewhere and kind of stored away in my head and forgot about until I heard it again.  I heard it again, looked it up, watched the music video, and couldn’t stop laughing.  And this was after watching “Love Story,” for which the music video is actually meant to be humorous… and during which I didn’t laugh.  Love Story, Love Song…. Love Tale or Poem next?  The blinged out Michael Jackson gone gangsta costume wasn’t as funny as his mascara and tight shirted emo look (emo scarf included).  But that wasn’t what made me laugh.  Even the Beyonce / Mean Girls inspired dance moves (I thought it was similar) or ridiculously drawn out body rolls didn’t get to me… until he started ripping his shirt off… literally.  And that’s when the laughter started.  It was as if you rolled the Twilight saga into less than a minute of music video.  Gratuitous and over the top overindulgence of teen girl hormones.  Other than that, the song’s good.  And really sad.  There are English subtitles running just below on the video just in case you missed them.  They juxtapose his lonely emo and shiny (in both the glittery and triglycerol sense) self with blissful memories of them together in white.  It took me a while to figure out that emo Rain is supposed to be invisible to the girl… which is why she doesn’t acknowledge his angsty expressions and sleeps through his little interpretive dance/rant on the bed.  So tragic…  and no tragedy would be complete without pulling your shirt behind your head to reveal your forlorn torso.
